Fast attachment can feel wonderful at first and frightening later.
Sometimes you meet someone and your imagination races ahead. You picture future conversations, routines, trips, or a relationship before you have enough real information about who the person actually is.
This does not mean your feelings are fake. It means feelings and knowledge can grow at different speeds.
Attachment can become faster when someone provides something you have been missing, such as attention, validation, excitement, emotional safety, or hope. The new connection can carry the weight of several unmet needs.
There is also a difference between liking someone quickly and building your identity around them quickly. Enjoying a strong connection is not the problem. Losing your routines, ignoring warning signs, or treating imagined potential as established reality can create trouble.
A useful grounding question is: “What do I know about this person from repeated behavior, rather than what I hope they will become?”
Keep your ordinary life active while a new relationship develops. Continue seeing friends, working, resting, and doing things that belong only to you.
You do not need to suppress excitement. You simply need enough time for reality to catch up with imagination.
Healthy attachment is not measured by how quickly you become consumed by someone. It is built through consistency, mutual effort, trust, and the gradual discovery of who two people actually are.
